The annual Aquinnah/Gay Head Community Association Reception will be held at the Vanderhoop Homestead on Aquinnah Town Circle this evening, August 16, starting at 5 p.m.

Richard Skidmore, who with his wife Joan LeLacheur, has been “in charge of” maintaining the Gay Head Lighthouse for 20 years will be our speaker. Richard will be talking about the Light’s history, its fragile location and its future.

As usual, the Reception is free (although donations to help defray its expenses will be cheerfully received).  We will be providing a variety of wines, waters and cheeses, but if those of you who can will also bring “finger foods” it will be deeply appreciated.

Ample free parking will be available at the Town parking lot (first right on Moshup Trail after its terminus at State Road) – there is a short path (it will be marked) at the left end of the lot that leads directly up to the Reception area.  Also, an off-duty policeman will be at the Homestead entrance onAquinnah Circle to assist those who will be dropping off attendees and he will be pleased to provide directions to the parking lot from there.

Although we may not have another of this recent string of gorgeous days/evenings, the weather forecast is quite passable and we are looking forward to having another very interesting and enjoyable evening.

We hope you (and your guests) can join us!!
